Angora, Family, Maryland Sheep and Wool

Maryland Sheep and Wool 2013

My Mom and I go to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival together. We’ve done it three years in a row so it is now our special tradition and we look forward to it every year! And this is the second year in a row that my sister in law, Annelies has joined us! So it’s her tradition with us too!

I’m not such a great photographer, but I’m working on it, and I’ll share a few photos with you:

The weather was beautiful; sunny and breezy, not too hot or too cool!

I fell absolutely in love with the English Angora Rabbits! Joe (my husband) does not realize how lucky he is to have a wife who realizes the importance of not stressing out one’s husband by bringing home unexpected new pets on the fly! One day, however, I am determined to have at least one (preferably two) English Angora Rabbits! I am willing to wait a very long time, be very patient, and endure many compromises in order to accomplish this goal! 😉

You can actually hold the Angora bunny on your lap, gently pluck the fiber from its back, and spin it right there! Amazing!

After a long and fun day at the S&W, we relaxed back at Mom and Dad’s while Mom modled some of my latest knits and Joel (my brother) entertained everyone by making silly faces in the background! What a wonderful weekend with family!

What fun times with family would you like to share?

Love, Sacrifice

Morning

I love morning! I especially love getting up early and watching the sun rise while I drink my tea and knit! I love how the sky glows with beautiful colors alive with light! I love the sense of joy and peaceful well-being that morning brings. I also feel excited because a new day brings with it new opportunities, new challenges, new things to learn, and another chance to give love and care to those closest to me. Morning is my favorite time of day, and the only thing that would make it even better would be to share it with someone I love!

My husband, however, happens to be a night owl! In his perfect world, he wouldn’t have to get up until 9am, and he wouldn’t have to verbally interact with anyone before 10am! How do we cope, some may wonder! How do we manage to not drive each other crazy?

It’s not easy, but it’s a beautiful opportunity. It’s been said that “It’s the little things that count.” The things that might easily go unnoticed. When you love someone, you are willing and able to sacrifice your own happiness for theirs – and to do it cheerfully and generously, and regularly. Love is not about bargaining; true love is about sacrifice. What are you willing to do, not do, or give up for the sake of one you love? Jesus gave up everything for us. He is our perfect example, and one who knows the pain and the great joy of sacrifice.

How do my husband and I manage mornings together? We each sacrifice for the other. I do everything I can to make a quiet and peaceful environment so he can sleep as long as possible, and I restrain my urge to make happy conversation and allow him to wake up slowly. I don’t complain about him staying up late. He makes an effort to be pleasant and cheerful in the morning. He doesn’t complain when I get up early. We do our best to give each other what we need. We’re not perfect, but we keep trying. That’s what love is about!

What’s your favorite time of day? What makes it so special to you? Do you have a favorite routine relating to your special time of day? Tell us about a sacrifice you have/are/will make for one(s) you love!

travel, vacation

Vacation!

This is our first family vacation in a very long time! I don’t know how many years! It’s very exciting because the whole family is going – Mom and Dad, little sister Melody, brother Joel and his wife, Annelies, sister Hannah and her boyfriend, Everitte!

We are going to Aspen, Colorado, for two weeks to enjoy lots of hiking, camping, biking, and beautiful outdoors!

No matter how exciting a trip I’m going on though, there is always a certain amount of trepidation involved when I leave home, such as, “I hope my green tomatoes that I’ve nursed along for weeks do not ripen, and then rot before I get back!”

I always feel sad when I leave home, even on a short weekend trip to Maryland to visit my family! I suppose that is a good thing because it means I love my home! And I generally push my sad feelings aside to make room the excitement of the trip, and reminding myself that my energy is better saved for being happy when I come home!

Are you planning a trip, traveling, or recently returned from vacation? Tell us about it!

Hello world!

Hi! My name is Sarah Inskeep. I live with my beloved in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. I love to serve dinner out on the back deck, have a campfire with family and friends, and take my knitting, spinning, or crochetting everywhere I go. Most of all, I love to bring some sunshine to another person’s day and see them go on their way with a smile on their face!

I see this blog as a lovely way to connect with friends and family, and also to meet new people and make new friends!
