In Progress

I’ve always been the sort of knitter who prefers to focus on one project, watch it grow, customize it along the way, block it with a flourish, and then move on to the next project.

But I have not been true to form lately. Before I’ve finished one project, I’m starting another, and then another…

A pile of works in progress!

I don’t think I can honestly claim to be a one-project-at-a-time knitter any more becauseΒ I currently have:
… four shawls,

Just need to sew on the ties & block!

Waiting in the wings are: several pairs of mitts for friendsΒ , various baby itemsΒ for my newest niece or nephew on the way, and two toy rabbits!

All in all, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and quite behind with my knitting. As much as I hate to do it, I think it may be time to work on bringing my knitting expectations back into line with reality again… πŸ˜‰

What does your To-Knit list look like? Are you a knitter who enjoys working multiple projects at a time, or do you prefer to focus on one thing at a time?

  1. You are such a wiz at knitting you can do multiple projects. ..I can only do one at a time. My problem comes in that I’m multitasking with grandkids, cleaning business, young living oils business, aging parent schedules and can’t remember where I left my knitting or if I really started a project or just thought about starting one. DAZED AND CONFUSED

    1. Wow, Debbie! You are an amazing multitasker! I don’t blame you at all for feeling dazed and confused sometimes. If I had to juggle that many important life things at once, I know I’d be dazed and confused ALL the time! πŸ˜‰ I think you’re an amazing person, and I wish you all the best success and fulfillment in your endeavors! May your knitting provide you with some much needed relaxation! 😘

  3. love all of your projects! Over several years, I have forced myself to follow a rule to keep things moving and getting done – only 2 WIPs allowed – one that is mobile (easy to pick up and drop) and one that could be more complicated. But this month I broke that rule completely and cast on three shawls. It would have been 4, but two required the same needle. I just decided to go for it and get some things in process. We will see how that goes for me. They are all in very muted blues and grays, nothing like your beautiful colors!

    1. Thank you!! 😊 I love your rule – so practical, but still giving yourself room for variety! And what a great idea having one project that is easier and more mobile and another more complicated! That was you always have something that works – no matter where you are or what mood you’re in! And it keeps things from getting overwhelming. Love it! Good luck with your three shawls!! I’m sure they are gorgeous and looking forward to seeing them! 😊

      1. Thanks – I am almost done with all the stockinette on them. Whew! And REALLY thinking about casting on a sweater today as part of the fringe Co knit along… breaking all my own rules. Sigh.
